Holy Trinity is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The ELCA was formed in 1988 and has over 10,300 member congregations, 65 synods, and a host of church-wide organizations. With a baptized membership of 4.2 million, the ELCA’s reach covers the entire U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. “As a practice, the ELCA opens its doors to all people, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, or where they are on their journey along life’s path.”
We are congregation of the ELCA’s Southwest California Synod as part of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Conference. There are more than 120 churches in this synod which serves the following counties: Kern, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. The three companion synods are: The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hong Kong (ELCHK), The South Central Synod of the Ethiopian Evangelical Lutheran Church Mekane Yesu (EELC), and, Sínodo Luterano Salvadoreño (Lutheran Salvadorian Synod).”
Holy Trinity is a proud founding member of the New City Parish. The New City Parish is a coalition of 9 urban congregations of the ELCA who joined together to manifest the presence of Jesus Christ to communities impacted by the 1992 Los Angeles civil unrest. The NCP is currently led by the Rev. Scott Fritz who serves as Executive Director.
Members of our church proudly and actively participate in the African Descent Lutheran Association (ADLA). Formerly, the ADLA is committed to living out faith by expressing love for one another and affirming cultural heritage as gifts to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and by working toward a full realization of the unity that is to be found in Jesus Christ.
